Thanksgiving Collection
Benefits the Needy

Our beautiful tradition at St. Rose of Lima has been to designate the Thanksgiving Day  collection for our Pastor’s Charity Fund.  I use this money throughout the year to help persons in need who come to us,  asking for help.  It has been a great blessing and privilege to have these gifts to help others.  This year, we have a donor who will contribute $12,000 to this fund as a matching gift if the parish can raise that much.  So, in addition to the collection on Thanksgiving Day, we will have a special collection the weekend  following Thanksgiving.  The economic situation in our community has resulted in many more people needing  assistance, so please give generously!  I will not ask for another special collection like this for two years if the match of the $12,000 goal is met.

Blessings!

Father Larry Morrison
Pastor

Pope Benedict XVI has declared a “Year for Priests” beginning with the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on June 19, 2009. The year will conclude in Rome with an international gathering of priests with the Holy Father on June 19, 2010.
Please pray for our priests that they might always be faithful to their sacred calling.

Please Pray for Priests

Dear Lord,
We pray that the Blessed Mother
wrap her mantle around your priests
and through her intercession
strengthen them for their ministry.

We pray that Mary will guide your priests
to follow her own words,
“Do whatever He tells you” (Jn 2:5)

May your priests have the heart of St. Joseph,
Mary’s most chaste spouse

May the Blessed Mother’s own pierced heart
inspire them to embrace
all who suffer at the foot of the cross.

May your priests be holy,
Filled with the fire of your love
Seeking nothing but your greater glory
And the salvation of souls.

Amen.
Saint John Vianney, pray for us.
