Thanks to the outstanding generosity of St. Rose of Lima parishioners and friends, the almost $9 million construction debt on the church has been completely paid off. The final mortgage
payment was mailed in November, and hundreds of parishioners celebrated with a “mortgage-burning” on November 16. Bishop Randolph Calvo concelebrated the 10:30 a.m. Mass with
pastor Father Larry Morrison, parochial vicar Father Joseph Abraham, founding pastor Father Tom Donnelly, and Deacon August Lemaire. After Mass, the congregation cheered as
Bishop Calvo and Father Larry burnt the “mortgage” in a brazier set up on the church porch beneath banners and balloons. The Knights of Columbus served up pancakes, sausage, and
a special cake to complete the festivities.
