Ministry/Organization Announcements

If you or a representative of your ministry/organization would like to speak at all the Masses on a weekend, please read Father Larry Morrison's policy and procedure below.

Please, do not approach the celebrant with a announcement request the day of the Mass.

MEMORANDUM

TO: ALL HEADS OF MINISTRIES; DEPARTMENT HEADS; COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSONS; MEMBERS OF ALL MINISTRIES AND COMMITTEES.

FR: FATHER LARRY AND THE PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL

DT: MAY 8, 2008

Dear Friends:

Recently there has been an accumulation of requests for the use of the sanctuary ambo from which to make special announcements other than the usual announcements before mass begins. Some of these requests have been for the same weekend dates. Some have even been from unknown persons in telephone conversations. Some have even been from persons approaching the ambo unannounced and unknown to the priest celebrant.

In order to bring some order and dignity to this problem I have consulted with the Parish Pastoral Council and have come to the following conclusion which will be applied as policy for announcements at St. Rose of Lima parish:

ONLY FIVE PULPIT ANNOUNCEMENTS ARE TO BE MADE BY LAYPERSONS:

1.      The annual financial report to the parish done by someone from the Finance Council.

2.      The annual CSA pledge drive.

3.      Boots-n-Roses event (which includes several weekend announcements)

4.      One event chosen by the Knights of Columbus and scheduled in advance.

5.      One event chosen by the Women of St. Rose and chosen in advance.

AnOther pulpit announcement will be done at my invitation. Schedules are subject to change without notice because of events, etc. People are not to presume to just get up and make an announcement at any time nor is anyone to approach a priest for an announcement before mass on the weekend.

All Information needs to go to Cheryl Jensen, the Business Assistant, who is in charge of preparing the bulletin and the pre-mass announcements for the lector. Cheryl will share the information with me before it goes into the bulletin or is written in the announcements list.

Thank you all for your kind attention to and respect of this simple request. It will certainly alleviate any further anxiety about announcement-making.
