Please call or email the Parish Office
Please call the Parish Office, 851-1874 to volunteer in this very rewarding ministry.
Extraordinary Ministers to the Homebound distribute the Eucharist to parishioners who are homebound and unable to attend Mass. EMs also provide a liaison between the homebound person and the parish, communicating their needs to the priest and appropriate ministries. We offer friendship and companionship to those who are in our parish community, but are unable to attend Mass due to illness or infirmity.
Extraordinary Ministers have an initial training session of up to two hours, scheduled as needed to prepare new volunteers.
The Extraordinary Ministry to the Homebound requires one or two hours per week.
What is required?
First of all, a Eucharistic Minister to the Homebound needs to have a love and reverence for the Eucharist.
One must be a confirmed Catholic, in good standing with the Church, to be an Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Eucharist.
One must be a good listener.
A Eucharistic Minister to the Homebound needs to be able to make a commitment of time and friendship. Be prepared to care very deeply for those you visit. Shut-ins really look forward to receiving the Eucharist, and they also look forward to the social contact that your visit brings every week. We give them the sense that their church community hasn’t forgotten them.
