The Knights of Columbus, St. John Vianney 13842 located at St. Rose of Lima is a Catholic, family, fraternal service organization. The Service Program for Council 13842 centers on service to the Church, community, council, family and youth activities. Each of these activities has a Chairman.
The Knights of Columbus regular meetings are held on the 3rd Monday of each month in the St Rose classrooms. They start at 7 PM and are usually over at 8 PM. To attend, a membership card is required as the meetings are closed to those who have not attended a 1st degree to learn about the Knights of Columbus.

The Church Activity program is there to support the pastor of
the Church and related church activities such as Careers in the
Church, RSVP (Support Seminarians), Parish Mission Appeal,
Project Moses, Keep Christ in Christmas, Lenten Soup & Water,
Stations of the Cross.

The Community Activities Committee provides
support to our local community. The committee's
outreach programs include the annual Tootsie Roll Drive,
which supports special education programs at Marvin Picollo
School and the Special Olympics. Respect for Life, the Reno
Cancer Foundation, Blood Drive, St. Vincent's and the VA
Hospital.
Council Activity

The Council Activities is unlimited as long as events promote
fraternalism and the spirit of companionship with the Church.
Just to list some of these activities: Monthly Pancake Breakfasts,
Spaghetti Dinner, St. Patrick's Day Dinner with the Women of
St. Rose, Golf Tournament, Wives Appreciation Dinner,
Seminarian Raffle Ticket Sales Scholarship Fund, Guest Speaker
Program, Reno Air Races, Corporate Mass and Mass for
Deceased Brothers.
Family Activity

The Family Activity goal is to strengthen family life through the
wholesome activites involving family members in social and
recreational events. Such events are Summer Picnic and Fishing
outing, Family Movie Night and BBQ, Over night Fishing Trip,
Shakespeare Night at Lake Tahoe, Wine Appreciation Night, and
a Snow Day and recognition of Family of the Month.

The Youth Activity program is intended to provide young people
the means and opportunity to become personally committed and
involved in meeting the challenges of our times. Programs
under Youth are fun and value based, that strengthens character,
develop good citizenship and enhance mental and physical
fitness in our youth that prepare them for today and their
future. Such programs are St. Rose Youth Ministry and
Northern Nevada Youth Rally, Knights of Columbus Soccer
Championship, Free Throw Championship. Future programs
include a Boy Scout unit and a Columbian Squires Circle at
Bishop Manogue. If you have interest in helping with starting a
Boy Scout unit and a Squires Circle at Bishop Manogue contact
Kevin or Bryan.
Public Relation Activity

Public Relations activities are charged with the responsibility of
keeping the council membership accurately and constantly
informed of current and future events. Also the organization
must get the message out about what the Knights are all about
and maintain our image with the public through the newspaper,
television and the Internet. Under Public Relations the monthly
news letter is created and distributed to the members. We are
looking for more talent under this activity, so if you have interest
in Public Relation, contact Dave.

Membership Director is responsible for recruitment of new
members. This recruitment process is done throughout the
year, but includes a membership blitz in September and one in
March.
Learn about the Knights of Columbus
The Knights of Columbus, Council John Vianney at St. Rose, is inviting Catholic gentlemen who are not Knights to learn more about the Knights of Columbus and join our Council.
With 1.8 million members in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia, the Knights of Columbus is the world’s largest Catholic lay organization. Founded in 1882 by the Venerable Servant of God Father Michael J. McGivney, the Knights of Columbus is a fraternal benefit society. We take great pride in our record work for charity with contributions of more than $145 million and 69 million hours of service. The Order supports numerous programs such as Special Olympics, Catholic education, Pro-Life initiatives, traditional marriage and the health of families as well as service in the aftermath of Sept.11 attacks and hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Here at St. Rose, Council John Vianney chartered in June, 2005 has donated $62,000 to our Church and various charities and groups such as Cancer Association, Children’s Cabinet, Casa de Vida, St. Vincent’s, Seminarians, Boy Scouts, Alzheimer’s Association, Trainer Middle School, and Marvin Picollo, Special Olympics, St. Mary’s, Hospice, Solace Tree, Reno Gospel Mission and Food Bank of NV, Catholic Radio, Divine Mercy Billboard, Bishop Manogue scholarship. In addition countless volunteer hours were donated by the members of Council 13842.
At the conclusion of all the Saturday and Sunday Masses during the month of March, Knights will be in the narthex to answer question about the Knights of Columbus; also available are membership applications. Stop by and say hello to fellow parishioners. We have pamphlets on “How to say The Rosary” and “A guide to Confession.”
